The role

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

Google's expanding computing services and the rapid emergence of AI demand unprecedented, around-the-clock performance from our global fleet of data centers. Meeting this demand responsibly is a defining challenge and opportunity of our time. To support this growth, the Energy and Location Strategy (ELS) team strategically sites data centers globally, securing the critical resources, community partnerships, and infrastructure required for optimal expansion. Working within this framework, the Energy and Power (E&P) team delivers the affordable, reliable, and sustainable power infrastructure needed to run these sites.

E&P focuses on three core objectives: securing high-reliability power across global markets, managing long-term portfolio costs and risks, and driving Google's clean energy progress. By providing innovative technical solutions, partnering with industry leaders, and breaking down policy barriers, the E&P team meets Google's immediate energy needs while actively accelerating the broader global transition to a smarter, carbon-free electricity grid for everyone.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization's ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google's cutting-edge technology, and tools that help developers build more sustainably. Customers in more than 200 countries and territories turn to Google Cloud as their trusted partner to enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

What you'll do

  • Own energy and power strategy across a number of EMEA markets.
  • Support and lead transaction negotiations, structuring, and execution of data center power connection agreements, energy supply agreements, power purchase agreements, partnerships, and other data center-related energy contracts.
  • Contribute to the growth of Google's data center portfolio through energy due diligence during site selection for new data center project development.
  • Help set strategy for Google's energy procurement, including the procurement of carbon-free energy in support of Google's clean energy ambitions.
  • Develop agreement approvals, investment memos, and other transaction-related materials for executive leadership, working closely with cross-company partner teams (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Legal, Accounting, etc.).
